Neil Sullivan – Psychoanalytic Therapy

Welcome you to my website and hope you’ll find information that may help you in your search. I am in private practice in West Perth, close to the city of Perth, and also work with clients at mens’ transitional hostels through the Community Programs of Psychoanalytic/dynamic Practitioners of Perth Inc (PdPP).

Analytic Therapy is a confidential engagement between you and the therapist. Through the initial process of getting to know one another, a secure base for further exploration of the difficulties you are facing is created. By learning to understand the unconscious mind’s influence on your wellbeing, you become engaged with processes that can enable a gradual lessening of symptoms and an increasing confidence and contentment in personal and professional engagement. Your changing perceptions will alter the way you feel and react.

The therapeutic relationship is cooperative and collaborative, with the therapist assisting you in taking a lead in the process. This helps you become more independent in maintaining your own wellbeing and progressing this through life.

Psychoanalytic Therapy is usually medium to long term; problems that have become repetitive over many years, and affect various aspects of your life, will need time so you can become more permanently and independently in control of your own situation. You will develop and grow in a deeper understanding of yourself and your unconscious motivations.

Struggles I Commonly Work With Include: Anxiety, Depression, Sleeping Problems, Relational Issues, Trauma, Loneliness, Panic Attacks, Obsessive Tendencies, Anger Issues, Self-devaluation, Grief and Loss.

We All Need Help With Life’s Difficulties

Anxiety, depression, lack of energy, loss of confidence and inhibitions are common symptoms that can become worse and lead to deeper problems if their root causes are not analyzed and understood. Whatever your personal difficulty is, your new understanding gained from the collaborative analysis of your experiences in Psychoanalytic Therapy will increase your perceptions in a way that leads to personal growth and knowledge.
